Terms of service
The terms that apply when you use Mariner GPS Tools, its navigation calculators, REST API, MCP server, accounts, and API keys.
Last updated: 15 August 2026
About these terms
These terms govern your use of Mariner GPS Tools, including the public navigation calculators, websites, REST API, MCP server, account area, API keys, documentation, and related services at marinergps.tools, tools.watchandnavy.com, and related domains (together, the Service).
The Service is provided by Watch & Navy Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales under company number 11617218, whose registered address is Rodney Chambers, 40 Rodney Street, Liverpool, L1 9AA, United Kingdom (Watch & Navy, we, us, or our).
By using the Service, or by creating an account or API key, you agree to these terms. If you use the Service on behalf of an organisation, you confirm that you have authority to accept these terms for that organisation. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
What Mariner GPS Tools provides
Mariner GPS Tools provides calculation and conversion tools for navigation-related tasks. You can use some tools through the public website, make direct requests through the REST API, or allow compatible software and AI agents to discover and call tools through the MCP server.
The documentation describes the currently available tools, request formats, request limits, and account features. We may improve or change the Service over time. If a change materially reduces a registered user’s access to an existing feature, we will take reasonable steps to explain the change in advance when practicable.
Navigation and safety
Mariner GPS Tools is a calculation and planning aid. It is not a certified navigation system, a substitute for official charts or notices, or an emergency, collision-avoidance, or safety-of-life service.
Results depend on the information you provide, the selected method and units, and the limits of the underlying calculation. Before relying on a result, check the inputs and units and compare important information with current official sources, suitable equipment, and your own judgement. Maintain a proper lookout and follow all laws, regulations, and safe-navigation practices that apply to you.
Do not use Mariner GPS Tools as the sole source of information where an error, delay, interruption, or unavailable connection could cause injury, loss of life, environmental harm, or property damage.
Accounts and API keys
You must provide accurate information when creating an account and keep your sign-in credentials and API keys secure. Do not publish an API key, place it in public client code, or share it with anyone who is not authorised to act for you.
You are responsible for activity performed through your account and API keys, except where unauthorised activity was not caused by your failure to take reasonable care. Rotate or revoke a key promptly if you believe it has been exposed or misused, and contact us if you believe your account has been compromised.
Request quotas and API key allowances apply as described in the documentation. You must not create multiple accounts or use other methods to evade those limits.
Acceptable use
You may use the Service for personal or commercial purposes, including within applications, services, automations, and AI-agent workflows, provided that you comply with these terms.
You must not:
- Use the Service for unlawful, fraudulent, deceptive, or harmful activity
- Interfere with, overload, damage, or disrupt the Service or another user’s access
- Bypass request limits, access controls, authentication, or other security measures
- Probe or test the Service for vulnerabilities without our prior written permission
- Use another person’s account or API key without authorisation
- Misrepresent Mariner GPS Tools output as verified, official, or suitable for safety-critical reliance
- Use the Service in a way that infringes another person’s rights
Your inputs and results
You retain any rights you have in information you submit to the Service. You give us permission to process that information only as needed to provide, secure, and operate the Service, as described in our Privacy policy.
We do not claim ownership of facts or calculation results generated for you. You may use those results in your own work, subject to applicable law and the rights of others. You are responsible for deciding whether a result is suitable for your purpose and for reviewing it before using or sharing it.
Our content and software
The Service, its software, design, documentation, branding, and original content are owned by Watch & Navy or its licensors and are protected by intellectual-property laws. These terms give you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to access and use the Service while you comply with them. They do not transfer ownership of the Service or the Mariner GPS Tools and Watch & Navy names, logos, or branding.
You may link to public pages and quote brief portions of the documentation with appropriate attribution. You may not copy or republish substantial parts of the website or documentation in a way that suggests endorsement or substitutes for the Service without our permission.
Availability and third-party services
We aim to operate the Service with reasonable care and skill, but internet services sometimes experience maintenance, faults, capacity limits, and interruptions outside our control. We do not promise that every feature will always be available or that the Service will support every device, client, or use case.
Some features depend on third-party services, such as authentication, hosting, maps, and network providers. Their own terms may apply when you use them. Links to third-party websites are provided for convenience; we are not responsible for their content or practices.
Suspension and ending access
You may stop using the Service at any time. You can rotate or revoke API keys from your account and can ask us to delete account-related service records as explained in the Privacy policy.
We may restrict or suspend access where reasonably necessary to:
- Protect an account, API key, user, or the Service from suspected compromise, abuse, or security threats
- Enforce request limits or respond to activity that materially disrupts the Service
- Comply with law, a court order, or a valid request from a competent authority
- Address a serious or repeated breach of these terms
Where appropriate, we will explain the reason and give you a reasonable opportunity to resolve the issue. We may act without advance notice when immediate action is reasonably necessary for security, safety, or legal compliance.
Our responsibility
These terms do not affect your legal rights as a consumer. We remain responsible where required by law, including our responsibility to provide the Service with reasonable care and skill.
We take reasonable care to explain each tool’s calculation method, assumptions, units, and relevant limitations in the documentation so that you can understand its intended use and choose an appropriate tool.
We are responsible for loss or damage that is a foreseeable result of our breach of these terms or our failure to use reasonable care and skill. We are not responsible for loss caused by inaccurate or incomplete information that you provide, your failure to follow the safety guidance above, unauthorised use resulting from your failure to keep credentials secure, or events outside our reasonable control.
The responsibilities set out above apply whether you use the Service personally or for business. If you use the Service for business purposes, we are not responsible for loss of profit, revenue, business opportunity, anticipated savings, goodwill, or business data.
Privacy
Our Privacy policy explains what information Mariner GPS Tools processes, what we retain, and the choices and rights available to you. Please read it before creating an account or API key.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms to reflect changes to the Service, the law, security requirements, or our business. The date at the top shows when the terms were last updated.
If a change materially affects registered users’ rights or obligations, we will take reasonable steps to provide notice before it takes effect. Continued use after the effective date means that the updated terms apply to your later use of the Service. If you do not agree to an update, you should stop using the Service before it takes effect.
Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. If you are a consumer, this does not remove any mandatory protection provided by the laws of the country where you live, and you may bring proceedings in any court available to you under applicable consumer law. If you use the Service for business purposes, the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction over disputes relating to the Service or these terms.
Please contact us first if you have a concern so that we can try to resolve it.
